Owner and Veterinarian, Traci S. Helton DVM.
I became a veterinarian simply because I had an interest in the medical profession and I liked animals. At a young age I was crazy about horses and I let that passion steer me down my career path.
I received my BS in Animal Science from Cornell University. I graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville in 1995. Since then I have worked in many practices.
In 2003, I started Mobile Veterinary Services – a house call practice that allowed me to provide veterinary care to those that may not have been able to seek care. During the past 10 years I have developed strong bonds with my clients and their pets.
The house call practice did limit my ability to provide intensive and emergency medical care to my patients. This problem has been resolved with the building and opening of Midtown Veterinary Services and Hospital. The process started back in February of 2012 when I was able to acquire the property on S. Jefferson Street. Without the assistance of a licensed architect, we designed the facility and broke ground June of 2012. Sixteen long months later with the help and hard work of a lot of people, the hospital opened its doors to clients on October 2, 2013. We are still putting the finishing touches on the facility and working out the “kinks” in our protocols.
Thank you for helping to make my dream a reality.
Practice Manager, Amber Kelley.
Hello, I'm Amber and I've joined the Midtown Veterinary staff as the Practice Manager. I'll be working all over the clinic, but primarily behind the scenes trying to make sure that the business runs smoothly so that Dr. Helton and her assistants and care staff can take the best care of your critters. I have a great passion for Animal Welfare, having worked with Animal Harbor since 2003, and always strive to continue learning.
Veterinary Assistant, Erica Teasley.
Hi! My name is Erica Teasley. I am a lifelong pet owner but this is my first time working in a veterinary clinic. I love it! The people I work with, pets, and owners are amazing. I am originally from Dalton, GA but moved to Monteagle, TN to go to college at Sewanee, where I received my BS in Biology. I am currently finishing my MS in Ecology at UGA. I currently have 9 dogs, 2 cats, and a Gypsian colt. I am pictured with my babies, Jethro and Ellie. When I'm not at Midtown, I am working on a horse farm in Sewanee. I am in charge of grooming the horses and working with the foals to prepare them to go to their new homes. I hope to see you at the clinic!
Veterinary Assistant, Misty Peck.
Hello, my name is Misty Peck, I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful girls, a fur baby Miniature Schnauzer and a foster kitten. I am returning to the Veterinary Medical field after being away from it for 8 years. I spent 7 years working at a clinic in Alabama right out of high school. I did not realize how much I loved and missed working with animals until I came to Midtown Veterinary Services & Hospital. My opportunity to work with the patients here is a gift. One that I cherish on a daily basis. I enjoy working with such a great staff in our wonderful facility. I look forward to seeing and spoiling your pets soon!

Head Receptionist, Angela Mannes.
Hello my name is Angela. I work in reception. I have a wonderful husband of 17 years, a proud mom to one 2-legged child, age 17, four 4-legged furbabies, 4 chickens and 4 finches. If I could I would have a mini farm with a bunch of miniature animals. Someday, I would love to have miniature goats! I love animals and I am thankful due to this job that I can see them everyday! I have an associates degree in accounting, but I have found I get more enjoyment out of being a receptionist here than any other job I have had. I love the group of people I work with. The doctors are so caring about their clients and patients. I look forward to seeing your animals.
